The Government of Bangladesh has established an eight-member expert taskforce to review and enhance the quality, transparency, and accessibility of data produced by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS). The initiative aims to strengthen BBS as a reliable and effective national statistical agency.

Chaired by Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, Executive Chairman of the Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC), the taskforce includes leading academics and policy experts from prominent research and academic institutions across the country.

The SSPS Programme Manager participated in the taskforce’s dialogue sessions, contributing to the push for a more responsive, accountable, and forward-looking national statistical system. Through its engagement, the SSPS Programme seeks to promote data-driven decision-making as a cornerstone of effective social protection reform and broader development planning.
