Introduction
The government introduced this programme in 2006 for persons having any of the five categories of impairment defined by the Bangladesh Protibondhy Kallyan Act 2001 (Bangladesh Disability Welfare Act 2001) i.e. (i) Hearing, (ii) Visual, (c) Speech, (d) Intellectual, and (e) Physical. Previously, the beneficiaries of this programme used to receive Taka 200/each per month, since 2010, the amount has been increased to Taka 300/each per month. Department of Social Services under the Ministry of Social Welfare. The Department of Social Services executes the programme through the implementation committees at the national, district and Upazila levels. There are also separate committees to for municipal and ethnic minorities areas.
Eligibility Criteria:
- annual income should not exceed Taka 24,000 per annum
- the beneficiaries must be destitute
- must be a local resident
- (iv) must be over six years of old
- must be selected by the concerned committee
- Priority given to the elderly, homeless, women with multiple disabilities, poor intellectually impaired children in economically disadvantaged areas of the country.
Benefit:
Beneficiaries receive BDT 300 per month.
