As we welcome a new year, the Social Security Policy Support (SSPS) Programme is proud to present the inaugural issue of its quarterly newsletter, Social Spotlight. Centred on ‘Amplifying the Voices of Persons with Disabilities,’ this issue underscores the programme’s steadfast commitment to fostering equity, dignity, and inclusion for all. Grounded in a life-cycle approach, the SSPS Programme works to strengthen the governance of the social protection system while amplifying the voices of marginalised communities and harnessing the transformative potential of social protection. For this edition, we shine a light on the extraordinary journeys and initiatives that centre around persons with disabilities, a group that remains at the heart of our collective vision for an inclusive Bangladesh. Over the past quarter, the SSPS Programme has worked tirelessly to identify the policy gaps while addressing the needs of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh. Central to these initiatives was the draughting of the Social Protection Framework for Persons with Disabilities—a thoroughly researched document aimed at addressing existing challenges and paving the way for an inclusive future. The SSPS Programme remains steadfast in its pledge to build a Bangladesh where no one is left behind—a vision realised through the relentless advocacy for those who often go unheard. Let this edition serve as a reminder that inclusive development is not a distant goal when we prioritise equity and work together to strengthen the social protection landscape. Stay tuned for the upcoming issues, where we will shine the spotlight on another crucial theme, bringing us one step closer to a truly inclusive Bangladesh.
