Bangladesh: Observance of International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024 (Draft)

The event is co-organized by the Bangladesh UNRC Office, UNDP, ILO, UN Women, UNICEF, UNFPA, and Sightsavers. This collaborative effort brings together a diverse range of stakeholders, including persons with disabilities, representatives from disability organizations, civil society members, and delegates from national and international NGOs. The media will also play a crucial role in amplifying the event’s key messages.

The primary goal of this event is to establish a platform for dialogue and engagement, enabling participants to discuss and address critical disability-related issues that require policymaker attention. Through these discussions, the event aims to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on ensuring inclusivity and leaving no one behind.

Objectives

  • Amplify: Showcase the leadership and contributions of persons with disabilities.
  • Educate: Increase awareness of disability rights and inclusive development.
  • Empower: Encourage and equip persons with disabilities to become active change-makers.
  • Advocate: Support policies and practices that foster inclusion and accessibility.
