Eradication of Hazardous Child Labour in Bangladesh (3rd Phase)

Introduction:
The Ministry of Labour and Employment implemented a USAID funded project that aimed at Eradication of Hazardous Child Labour in Bangladesh. In Dhaka and Chittagong Municipal Corporation, imparting non-formal education and skills training for working children along with providing micro credit support for their guardians/parents. Eradication of Hazardous Child Labour in Bangladesh is a government development project sponsored and executed by the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It aims to remove 30,000 children from the selected 47 hazardous occupations in Bangladesh and aims to prevent younger siblings from entering child labour. To give micro credit to at least 20,000 parents of child labour for income generating activities from the micro credit fund of the Tk. 35.5 million of the previous project which is lying with the Karmashangsthan Bank and as well as the fund to be arranged from the revenue budget/micro-credit fund of the government; To create mass awareness to the people about the long term negative consequences of hazardous child labour; To enhance the institutional capability of the Ministry of Labour & Employment for playing a leading role in implementing the programmes regarding child labour
Eligibility Criteria:

  • Children from the Dhaka districts of Tongi, Savar, Keranjganj and Narayanganj, Chittagong City, Bogra Industrial Area, Sylhet City Corporation, Barisal City Corporation and Khulna City Corporation.
