An orientation and discussion meeting on National Social Security Strategy (NSSS) was held on 23 May 2019 in the Cabinet Room in Cabinet Division. The meeting was chaired by the Cabinet Secretary Mr. Mohammad Shafiul Alam. Principal Secretary Mr. Md. Nojibur Rahman of the Honorable Prime Minister and Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Coordinator (SDG) was present at the meeting as Special Guests. Secretaries from 35 Ministries/Divisions implementing Social Security also participated in the meeting.
The meeting started with an opening speech from the Cabinet Secretary. Dr. Shamsul Alam, Member (Senior Secretary), General Economics Division then gave a presentation on National Social Security Strategy (NSSS). Dr. Md. Shamsul Arefin, Senior Secretary (Coordination and Reforms), Cabinet Division then gave a presentation on the Action Plan for National Social Security Strategy. Principal Coordinator (SDG) of Prime Minister’s Office Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad then gave a brief presentation titled ‘Social Protection & SDGs’.
The presentations were followed by lively discussion on different aspects of Social Security and SDGs. Mr. Md. Nojibur Rahman, Principal Secretary to the Honorable Prime Minister then gave a short speech on Social Security and Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting ended with a closing remarks from the Cabinet Secretary.
