Introduction:
This project is within the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) under the Ministry of Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives (MOLGRD&C). The objective of the project is to sustain economic development by supporting the Government’s efforts in rehabilitating essential rural infrastructure affected by the cyclone Aila in 12 (Twelve) districts of the cyclone prone areas.
The physical works of the “Rehabilitation of AILA Affected Rural Infrastructure Project (RAARIP)” are included in the total project cost (Revised 55.00 crore). The main objective of the project is to sustain economic development by supporting the Government’s efforts to rehabilitate essential rural Infrastructure affected by the Aila cyclone. The project objectives are: (a) Rehabilitate the AILA affected rural infrastructure that would immediately restore rural economic and social activities. (b) Create employment opportunities through project construction works. The project will rehabilitate:
- Upazila and Union roads of 488.07 km (BDT 11507.98 lac) and
2. Bridge/culvert on those roads of 1328.98m (BDT 3225.59 lac). Design of rehabilitation work will be prepared in accordance with the planning commission approved road design standards.
Coverage: Design of rehabilitation work would be prepared in accordance with the planning commission approved road design standards. In 14 upazilas of 3 districts in Khulna namely Bagerhat, Khulna and Sathkhira, and in 6 upazilas in the Chittagong Division namely Chittagong, Laximpur and Noakhali, and 40 upazilas of 6 districts in Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Borguna, Perojpur and Jhalakathi.
