Introduction:
Dhaka, a large urban sprawl houses 12 million people. To maintain urban utility services (street sweeping, garbage collection, disposal, mosquito control etc.), Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) hires out 7,156 cleaners. DCC provides residential accommodation to 2,980 cleaners and their families, the rest 4,176 live in dire conditions. DCC cannot provide accommodation to all its cleaners. So, to obtain good services from them, it is essential to provide decent accommodation. DCC prepared a project for 12, 4 storied (with 6 storied foundation) residential buildings, approved by ECNEC of Dayagonj, Dhalpur and Sutrapur areas of Dhaka. Each building will contain 130 flats in each building of around 470 sq. ft.
