Ministry of Education

Ministry of Education is the apex policy making institution of the Government regarding administration and development of post-primary education sector. There are about 40,336 post primary secondary schools/colleges/madrasahs and 37 public and 92 private universities. Ministry of Education is responsible for education at the secondary and higher secondary level. As such, it has an important role in contributing to the development of human resources of the country. As implementer of social security programmes, the Ministry disburses secondary stipends. The vision of the ministry is “to ensure good quality of secondary education for all”. In order to achieve the vision, the Ministry has the mission “To expand facilities of secondary education to all and thereby enhance human development”.
