Dissemination Workshop on NSSS Action Plan, Phase – II (2021-26) held
A Dissemination Workshop on National Social Security Strategy (NSSS) Action Plan Phase-II (2021-2026), was held on 6 October 2022 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BCIC), Dhaka. Respected Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Khandker Anwarul Islam graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The focus of the workshop was to disseminate the newly formulated NSSS Action Plan among the participants.
The dissemination workshop were followed by working sessions that continued for 4 days from 10 to 13 October 2022 in the same venue. The social protection implementing ministries and NGOs presented on their planned activities relating to social protection in those sessions.
The dissemination workshop was chaired by Mr. Md. Shamsul Arefin, Secretary, Coordination and Reforms, Cabinet Division. Ms. Sharifa Khan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division (ERD), and Mr. MD. Kawser Ahmed, Member (Secretary), GED of Planning Commission were present as the special guests. The Workshop was participated by Senior Secretaries, secretaries to the government of more than 30 ministries, social protection focal point officers of 39 ministries, representatives from the Development Partners (DPs), NGOs and academia were also present in the inaugural session.
Mr. Mohammad Khaled Hasan, Joint Secretary, Cabinet Division, made a presentation on the newly formulated NSSS Action Plan followed by formal launching of the Action Plan by the chief guest, special guests and the senior representatives of selected DPs as guests of honour.
The dissemination workshop and the working sessions have been organized by the Social Security Policy Support (SSPS) Programme of Cabinet Division and General Economics Division (GED), funded by the Australian government and UNDP.

Second Day
Second day of the workshop on National Social Security Strategy (NSSS) Action Plan, Phases - II Baseline Assessment and Way Forward was held on 10th October 2022. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Md. Kawser Ahmed, Member (Secretary), General Economics Division (GED) and Mr. Md. Shamsul Arefin, Secretary, Coordination and Reforms, Cabinet Division.
Representatives from Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Technical and Madrasha Education Division, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Ministry of Liberation War Affair, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Economic Relations Division, Financial Institutions Division and Finance Division presented their respective Action Plans accordingly.
Third Day
Third day of a five-day long workshop on “National Social Security Strategy (NSSS) Action Plan, Phases - II Baseline Assessment and Way Forward” was held on 11th October 2022 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka.
Focal Points from the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment, Ministry of Land, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Ministry of Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Rural Development and Cooperatives Division, Local Government Division, Medical Education and Family Welfare Division and Health Services Division, presented their social security programmes and actions plans.
Third day's workshop was chaired by the Secretary (Coordination & Reforms), Cabinet Division and Member (Secretary), General Economics Division (GED) of Bangladesh Planning Commission.
Fourth Day
Fourth day of a five-day long workshop on “National Social Security Strategy (NSSS) Action Plan, Phases - II Baseline Assessment and Way Forward” was held on 12th October 2022 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka.
Focal Points from the General Economics Division (GED), Planning Division, Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Statistics and Informatics Division, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Industries, ICT Division, Posts and Telecommunications Division, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change presented their social security programmes and actions plans.
Today’s workshop was chaired by the Secretary (Coordination & Reforms), Cabinet Division and Member (Secretary), General Economics Division (GED) of Bangladesh Planning Commission.
Fifth Day
Fifth and final day of a week long workshop on “National Social Security Strategy (NSSS) Action Plan, Phases - II Baseline Assessment and Way Forward” was held on 13th October 2022 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka.
Focal Points from ASA, BRAC, MJF, PKSF, TMSS, Concern Worldwide, Bangladesh Nari Progoti Sangha, MRDI, Centre for Disability in Development (CDD), World Vision International, PLAN International, Ganoshasto Kendra, WAVE Foundation and BSPAN presented their social security programmes aligned with the NSSS action plans.
The sessions of the workshop was chaired by Mr. Shamsul Arefin, Secretary, Coordination & Reforms, Cabinet Division and Member (Secretary), Dr. Md. Kawser Ahmed, General Economics Division (GED) of Bangladesh Planning Commission.
This programme was organised by Social Security Policy Support (SSPS) Programme of UNDP Bangladesh which is implemented by Cabinet Division and General Economics Division (GED) and supported by the Australian Government.
