Allowances for Distressed Cultural Personalities/Activists

Cultural Personalities and Activists earn their money but when they are sick they cannot work and face financial difficulties. In 1997, the scheme was launched. It is given to 2200 beneficiaries throughout the year.
Local Implementation:
District Commissioner collect is the one stop shop for sending applications

Throughout the country on a needs basis.
Eligibility Criteria (who are eligible for this programme):
An advertisement is given in the major newspapers in the month of September. A formal letter goes out to the District Commissioner. The DC sends a list of artiste and cultural personalities to the Ministry.
Targeting (how beneficiaries are targeted) (if information is available):
Here, a committee finally selects the beneficiary.
Benefit (what is delivered—cash, kind, employment), for what duration & outline frequency (at what interval the benefit is delivered, i.e. monthly, quarterly etc.):
Amount is between Tk. 500-3,000 a month but given in one lump sum for the whole year.
