Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is mandated to ensure health, nutrition and family planning services to people. The Ministry has an important role in social security as it operates special programmes for vulnerable mothers, children and nutrition.

The vision of the Ministry is “to promote affordable and quality health services to all”. To achieve the vision, the Ministry has the mission “to ensure quality health service for all at an affordable cost by developing the service sectors in health, population and nutrition”.
